What you cannot ship abroad from India by courier — banned vs restricted items, batteries, liquids, food, medicines, jewellery, and how to pack safely before pickup from Delhi NCR.
Why checking the prohibited list saves your shipment (and money)
Before you book a pickup or request an international quote, check what airlines and customs will refuse. Sending banned goods can mean seizure, return, freight loss, or penalties — delays that look like “customs holds” often start with a restricted item packed by mistake.
Swastiksidhi Courier is based in Gurgaon with doorstep pickup across Delhi NCR. Our Terms & Conditions list core bans (batteries, liquids, aerosols, currency, jewellery and similar high-risk goods). Destination countries add more rules — so always declare honestly and ask us early.
Prohibited vs restricted — know the difference
Prohibited means not allowed in standard international courier — no workaround. Restricted means it may move only with documents, quantity limits, special packing, or destination approval (and sometimes not at all on express lanes).
Never hide an item to “get it through”. Undeclared restricted goods raise customs clearance risk for the whole carton.
Commonly prohibited in international courier from India
Typical hard bans across major networks: explosives and fireworks; firearms and ammunition; narcotics; counterfeit goods; loose currency and negotiable instruments; precious metals/jewellery in standard courier; ivory and protected wildlife products; human remains without authorised channels; and many hazardous / radioactive materials.
Our standard service also does not accept batteries, liquids, aerosols, currency, jewellery, flammable items, or other high-value goods listed in Terms. If you are unsure, contact us or WhatsApp before packing.
Restricted categories customers ask about most
Medicines: personal-use prescription items may be possible only where destination rules allow and paperwork is complete — start with our medicine courier enquiry, never ship controlled substances. Food: packaged non-liquid food may be accepted at shipper’s risk for spoilage (see Terms); fresh produce, liquids, homemade perishables and seeds are high-risk or refused. Electronics: devices with installed batteries are often restricted; loose power banks / spare lithium cells are usually refused.
Documents, clothes and many personal gifts are usually fine when itemised on the invoice — see how to ship gifts abroad and document courier tips.
How to pack and declare so clearance goes smoother
Itemise every product on the commercial invoice (not “gift items”). Use honest declared value. Pack in the smallest sturdy carton — chargeable weight and international courier charges both punish oversized voids.
After pickup you can track your shipment online. If status pauses at customs, share your booking ID with support — receiver-side duty notices are common on higher-value cartons.
